PICTURES!!!!

With everyone's help, we were able to raise $1,381.25 for PanCan.

Here are a few pictures from the event. It will make you wish you were there or if you attended it makes you look forward to next year!

The GrayHounds did a great job. The guitars were backed up by two keyboards and the drummer. What a great sound!

I have to thank all of the volunteers and of course, put this picture in. A teenager doing dishes - Thank you to Jacob McWhorter for all of your help.

Calvin and Nanette Gibson serving up the incredible barbeque. They kicked me out because I serve like an army mess sargent, with the emphasis on mess. I would not have survived the evening without the help of my family. Here is my husband, Dennis, and my daughter, Darcy, turning in bid sheets with me to volunteer cashier, Trish C. Oooh and look at the table of goodies the Blosser's brought to sell. Cindy, Trish and Kim all look pretty intense in their bidding!

Finally, some random shots with no comment from me.

Robert Marin photograph

A photograph by Robert Marin is one of the items up for bid Saturday. Taking a photo of a photo doesn't really do it justice, so, in short, the photograph is a small town still life of a vintage bicycle leaning against a store front window. It has been matted and framed, with glass, and measures 19" x 23". Please come to the dinner, however, to take a decent look at it.

Robert Marin is a local photographer. This spring he and his wife Nancy were featured artists at Riverside Perk in downtown Wichita. This is one of Cass Carson's Yo2 (Yarn Over Twice) bags. She gives old wool sweaters new life as spacious felted bags, complete with internal and external pockets galore and even a key ring.

Kim Pepper piece

Kim Pepper is a local pottery artist. About two years ago her mother passed away from pancreatic cancer, so donating a piece of her work is especially important to her. The vase is hand-thrown and hand-carved, glazed in a Sagebrush Courtyard color. To see more of Kim's pottery, visit her blog.

What a doll!

Local fiber artist Diane Cooper writes about her doll:

Well this one…i can only say made herself…lol…everything i envisioned her to be didn’t work….
Like her top started out to be an apron, i wanted to put a bandanna on her and made it three times and it never did come out the right size....
so when people ask how i make these dolls i just giggle and tell them, i just let them tell me who they want to be…

i named her learning grace because once again i realize that the gift of these dolls come from something bigger than me.....

Time is getting close

This picture does not do justice to this incredibly cute quilt that my sister-in-law, Sherry Rishell, made entitled "Under the Stars". Four snowmen cuddled up under a blanket together - how sweet is that!

This darling fleece baby blanket was made and donated by Denise Ross, the head of the PanCan Wichita affiliate. You can barely see it in the picture, but Baby is inscribed all over the blanket.

Alice King donated this market bag made from LionBrand Microsoft which means it is strong and lightweight. She also donated one of her famous triangle patterned scarves made from Regia wool sock yarn.

These five items were donated by Katrina Hosford from California. She was so generous to send us her work.

These three scarves were knit and donated by Mimi Korte. They are soft and fun. The bottom is actually black instead of gray. Flash lighting will do that!

This hat was knit by Lucie German, a pancreatic cancer survivor from New Jersey. It has an interesting twist in the front and is made of wool.

This beautiful slouch hat was knit by Lucie, also. You can't tell from the photo, but there are little seed beads knit into the pattern. I don't know what the yarn is made of but it is very soft. It looks and feels like an alpaca, silk, and wool blend.

Details, Details, Details

The menu for the evening is Barbequed Ribs and Chicken, potato salad, green beans, rolls and Apple Cobbler. There will be iced tea, coffee and water to drink.

The doors will open at 5:30 with the silent auction and meal service starting at 6pm. Dinner will be served until 7:30. So you can be late - but you won't have nearly as much fun. The silent auction bidding will end at 7:40pm with the winners announced at 7:45 and we will start settling immediately.

Tickets are still available at Accent Interiors, Twist Yarn Shop and Plymouth Congregational Church. If you haven't bought your tickets by Wed. the 11th, but plan on attending please leave a comment here or call 683-7782. This will help us in purchasing food.

Dani Davis, of the Flying Pig Boutique, donated some of her Foaming Salt Scrub. This one is scented in Spearmint Eucalyptus.

Deborah McPherson donated this painted pot lid and it comes with a plate hangar.

Here is a painted spoon donated by Deborah. It has "Love a Good Book" on the back of the spoon.

Deborah also donated a whole basket of handmade soaps in a variety of scents and shapes.

I couldn't resist making this cross stitch design from Lizzie Kate: Peace, Love, and a Cure.

Abigail's Aprons donated this unisex barbeque apron with swimming fish motif.
